CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming’s governor has launched an initiative intended to slow the spread of invasive plant species in the state.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports Republican Gov. Mark Gordon announced Wednesday that the initiative will include two teams making recommendations for managing invasive species.
Officials say terrestrial invasive species represent a significant threat to Wyoming’s forests, rangelands and agricultural lands with varying levels of impact.
Gordon says the initiative will have policy and technical teams.
Each team will include scientists, representatives of local, state and federal government, members of industrial and agricultural groups, and other practitioners.
Officials say the teams are scheduled to hold an initial meeting Oct. 10 at the National Resources Conservation Service building in Casper.
