TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson tax preparer has pleaded guilty to preparing more than 40 false federal tax returns over a three-year span.
Internal Revenue Service investigators say 36-year-old Adan Ramirez pleaded guilty to two counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation and presentation of a false tax return.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17.
Authorities say Ramirez has agreed to pay more than $100,000 in restitution to the IRS.
From April 2012 through March 2015, Ramirez is accused of preparing and filing 44 false individual federal income tax returns with the IRS for clients.
It resulted in a tax loss of nearly $184,000.
IRS investigators say Ramirez intentionally omitted his name, signature, and a tax preparer identification number on the tax returns to conceal his identity.
