LAS VEGAS (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a Las Vegas man on charges of murder, kidnapping and conspiracy in the death of a 24-year-old adult entertainment model whose concrete-encased body was found in the desert.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports a grand jury indictment against 45-year-old Christopher Prestipino was unveiled Monday. He faced the same charges in an earlier criminal complaint but the grand jury indictment removes the need for an evidentiary hearing.

Prosecutors say Prestipino killed 24-year-old Esmeralda Gonzalez by strangling her and injecting her with pool cleaner. They say that afterward he tried to hide her body in the desert in a homemade concrete and wooden structure.

Prestipino’s lawyer Bill Terry has told a judge his client is not a flight risk. Terry did not immediately return a message Tuesday seeking comment on the grand jury indictment.
