PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) - Several large companies want Indiana regulators to order Duke Energy to refile paperwork supporting its proposed 15% rate increase.

Duke Energy is seeking the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission’s approval for the rate hike for its 840,000 Indiana electric customers.

But the Indianapolis Business Journal reports that Walmart Inc., Kroger Co. and other big customers have asked the IURC to order Duke to refile all its rate case paperwork and exhibits, with formulas and linked spreadsheets.

They and others say Duke is obstructing the regulatory process’ normal give-and-take by making it difficult to examine key financial information.

The IURC hasn’t yet ruled on the motion, which is supported by Indiana’s Office of Utility Consumer Counselor.

Duke Energy Indiana’s president, Stan Pinegar, says the utility feels like it’s “been more than transparent.”
