BETHEL, Vt. (AP) - A construction milestone has been reached in construction of a $6.4 million replacement bridge on Vermont Route 12 over Gilead Brook north of downtown Bethel.
The Transportation Agency says abutment and pier work on the project has been completed for the season.
Contractors are expected to return in mid- to late November to set the structural steel for the new bridge.
Meanwhile traffic will continue on the existing bridge, with flaggers on-site stopping traffic as needed. Delays should be expected.
The new bridge replaces a span built in 1928. Construction is expected to be completed next fall.
