OKLAHOMA CITY — Thomas Bryant scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Washington Wizards beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, 97-85.
Rookie forward Rui Hachimura scored 19 points and Bradley Beal added 17 for Washington (1-1). The Wizards posted a 14-2 run to finish the game to earn their first win of the season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 28 points, a career high, and Danilo Gallinari added 18 for the Thunder, which lost their home opener after they fell to Utah in the season opener on Wednesday.
The Wizards were winning 52-46 when they reached the break, and then scored the first six points of the second half to make the score 58-46. At the end of the third period they still led 78-70.
The game grew closer at the beginning of the last quarter, when the Thunder did not allow Washington to score during the first 4 1/2 minutes.
