PRESTON, Conn. (AP) - State police say they have identified a suspect in a fatal early-morning drive-by shooting in Preston.

Police say the shooting occurred at the intersection of Route 12 and Route 2A at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

They say someone fired shots from one car into another, striking a passenger.

The shooter’s car then fled the scene.

Ledyard police escorted the car carrying the shooting victim to L&M Hospital in New London, where the victim died.

State police say they have identified a “person of interest” in the case, but have not released the name of that person or the shooting victim.
