SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle police said detectives are investigating after an officer opened fire on a group of men with guns who were fighting in a West Seattle alley.
The Seattle Times reports the officer was on patrol at 10:30 p.m. Thursday when the officer saw multiple men fighting in the alley.
Police say when the officer went to break it up, two of the people involved in the fight pulled out handguns.
The officer shot at the men multiple times.
Police say one person was injured in the assault, but no one appears to have been hit by a bullet from the officer’s gun.
The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the 29-year-old victim for minor injuries suffered in the fight.
Investigators are searching the neighborhood for the other involved parties and interviewing the assault victim to determine what led up to the fight.
