Jane Fonda was arrested for the third time on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Friday, and this time she was joined by “Cheers” and “The Good Place” actor Ted Danson.
The Washington Post captured footage of both Ms. Fonda and Mr. Danson being detained by police at the Capitol as part of Ms. Fonda’s campaign, “Fire Drill Fridays,” to raise awareness for climate change.
“@Janefonda was just arrested for the 3rd time calling on climate justice now. This week we are demanding the protection and restoration of our oceans,” Fire Drill Fridays tweeted.
Ms. Fonda — currently known for her role on Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie” — announced two weeks ago that she moved to D.C. to participate in more climate change protests, adding she will be protesting on the Capitol steps every Friday until at least January.
On her website, Ms. Fonda said she moved to D.C. “to be closer to the epicenter of the fight for our climate.”
“I can no longer stand by and let our elected officials ignore — and even worse — empower — the industries that are destroying our planet for profit. We can not continue to stand for this,” she added.
