BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - A Naval shipyard in Washington State has settled a case with an employee over claims of sexual harassment and retaliation.

The Kitsap Sun reports 57-year-old Mark Swalley settled his case against the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for $130,000.

The lawsuit filed by the 33-year employee says he reported a case of sexual harassment on behalf of a woman he supervised.

Swalley says he relayed the report to his superior and the shipyard’s Equal Employment Opportunity office, but it never reached the shipyard’s commanding officer.

Swalley says shipyard personnel told him to stop the inquiry, harassed him and retaliated against him for filing the complaints.

A spokesman says various factors led to the settlement and the shipyard continues to focus on ensuring a safe and respectful environment for its workforce.
