VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A Florida man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a drunken crash that killed a Virginia woman.

The Virginian-Pilot reports 36-year-old Anthony Francis Spence entered the plea Monday and faces up to 20 years in prison at his January sentencing. Prosecutors say Spence was driving 104 mph when he crashed into the SUV driven by 73-year-old Maria Grayson Fox, who died at the scene of the 2018 crash in Virginia Beach.

Prosecutors say witnesses told police that Spence staggered away from the scene. He was later found in bushes outside a nearby house. Prosecutors say a blood test showed that Spence had a blood alcohol content level of .19, over double the legal driving limit. They say his passenger told authorities the two had come from a nightclub.
