PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The owners of a Rhode Island restaurant say more than $60,000 in cash collected during the city of Providence’s Columbus Day Festival has been stolen.

The Providence Journal reports that the owners of Venda Ravioli told police the cash stored in eight envelopes was stolen from a locked filing cabinet in a locked office on Oct. 14, the day after the festival. Venda sold food from a booth outside the restaurant.

Police say neither the exterior door nor the office door was damaged, but there was evidence that the top drawer of the filing cabinet had been pried open.

One of the brothers who own the restaurant told police he could not account for his keys for part of the day.
