LANDOVER — The Washington Redskins have blown two good chances to put points on the board, but they’re still very much alive in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
At halftime, the Redskins and the 49ers remain scoreless as each team has struggled to move the ball during a rain-filled afternoon.
The Redskins ran the ball 19 times in the first half, including 11 times on their opening drive. But the Redskins failed to score just outside the red zone when kicker Dustin Hopkins missed a 39-yard attempt.
San Francisco, however, hasn’t been much better. Robbie Gould missed a 45-yarder and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is just 3 of 10 for 10 yards through two quarters.
The Redskins out-gained San Francisco 118-68 in yards.
It was the first scoreless opening half league-wide since 2017.
