ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Attorneys for New York have signaled they are not challenging court rulings that invalidated a ban on outside income for state lawmakers and linked pay raises.

Democratic Attorney General Letitia James’ office has withdrawn its initial appeal of one ruling to the state Supreme Court’s Third Department in Albany. State court records do not show the attorney general has appealed the other ruling.

James’ office didn’t respond to request for comment left Thursday.

This year, base pay for lawmakers jumped from $79,500 to $110,000.

Meanwhile, state judges struck down a special state committee’s move to ban outside income and also hike lawmakers’ annual salary to $120,000 in 2020 and $130,000 in 2021.

Judges said the committee lacked the power to restrict lawmakers’ income.
