WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is congratulating fellow Caribou native Jessica Meir on participating in the first all-female spacewalk at the International Space Station.
Collins said Friday Meir continues to be an inspiration to students in Caribou, across Maine, and throughout the country. Meir and fellow astronaut Christina Koch successfully replaced part of the space station’s power grid.
Collins and Meir were two of the six inaugural inductees of the Caribou High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2016.
