BALTIMORE (AP) - The city of Baltimore will once again pay adolescents and others to shovel snow for senior citizens and residents with disabilities.

The city’s Department of Transportation began accepting job applications this week.

This will be the fifth winter the program will pay youth between 14 and 21 years old to remove snow from sidewalks around the homes of residents 65 and older and people with disabilities.

The participants will work on days when school is off or classes are canceled.

Residents interested in getting help from the young workers must apply to receive the service.

Up to 500 people will be hired. The job comes with a guaranteed $500 stipend.
