SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Salt Lake City police officer is accused of having a sexual relationship with a parolee.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday that 42-year-old Robert Tilton Hinds is facing a felony charge of custodial sexual relations.
According to charging documents, he was charged last week.
The Unified Police Department, which is conducting the investigation, searched the parolee’s phone and found sexually explicit texts and voicemails between the pair.
The parolee, identified as D.C. in documents, told investigators she and Hinds had a relationship between May and November of 2018.
She says Hinds had previously met her parole officer and knew her status.
The Salt Lake City police chief did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Hinds’ employment status.
It wasn’t known if Hinds had an attorney.
