DOVER, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware say a man armed with knives chased people around a store while he was allegedly under the influence of synthetic marijuana.

News outlets report 41-year-old Steve Lawrence entered a Royal Farms in Dover on Friday carrying two folding knives. Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman says employees called police to report Lawrence was chasing workers and customers around the business.

Lawrence is accused of running from officers when they arrived. He was captured after a short foot chase. No injuries were reported.

Police say a person with Lawrence indicated that synthetic marijuana was involved. Officers didn’t recover any drugs.

Lawrence is facing several charges including disorderly conduct and menacing. He’s been booked into the Sussex Correctional Institution. It’s unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
