Redskins safety Landon Collins was named the NFC defensive player of the week Wednesday for his performance in Sunday’s 17-16 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Collins, 25, recorded 12 tackles, one quarterback hit, one tackle for loss and notched his first sack of the season. This season, he has played 100% of the defensive snaps in all six games.
The Redskins signed Collins to a six-year, $84 million deal in March. With Washington, he’s provided leadership and enjoyed a strong start to the season.
He has 55 tackles in six games, tied for seventh league-wide. He also ranks fourth in solo tackles with 39.
This is the fourth time in Collins’ career that he has earned the honor.
