Stephen Strasburg starts for the Nationals on Monday night in Game 3 of the NL Championship Series and has not lost to the St. Louis Cardinals since 2014.
The right-hander is 3-2 with a 2.50 ERA in eight career regular-season starts against the Cardinals, who trail 2-0 to the Nationals in the NLCS.
This will be the first career postseason start against the Cardinals for Strasburg, who was shut down during the 2012 playoff run by Washington.
“It’s another game and I think we have done a pretty good job thus far of taking it one day at a time,” Strasburg said in St. Louis.
Strasburg beat the Cardinals twice in 2016 and was 1-0 against them this season in two starts.
His last loss against St. Louis was June 14, 2014, on the road in a 4-1 loss as he gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings.
