SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - The University of Rhode Island is hosting a workshop to discuss the security of the electrical grid this week.
The “Cyber-Physical Systems Security” event, featuring speakers from academia, industry and government, will be held Friday and Saturday at the South Kingstown campus.
The first day will focus on how advancements in science and technology can mitigate threats. The second day will focus on building a workforce to meet challenges in this field.
The event is free but registration is required.
URI officials are planning to attend, including President David Dooley, the vice president for research, the provost and the college of engineering dean.
The agenda includes keynote addresses about smart grid cybersecurity, secure electrical systems for the military, grid security in Alaska and the Arctic, and education and workforce development.
