The Washington Redskins placed Jordan Reed on injured reserve Saturday.
The tight end has yet to play in 2019 after he suffered a concussion during preseason. Reed has had at least seven concussions in his playing career dating back to college.
Reed can be reactivated later this season, but it’s more likely that his year is over before it began.
ESPN reported last month that some people within the organization feared Reed’s career was in jeopardy over this latest concussion. He has seen multiple specialists.
Former coach Jay Gruden said last month that Reed had yet to be cleared because the team was “just trying to get to the bottom of it and figuring out the best way to make him more comfortable, get him back in the lineup.”
Defensive back Jeremy Reaves was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in Reed’s place.
