LAS VEGAS (AP) - Hundreds of steel posts along the Las Vegas Strip will be shortened to address safety concerns.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that said 283 of the 4,500 bollards - large steel posts aimed at protecting pedestrians from vehicles- will be shortened.
Generally, the bollards are 54 inches tall. Those that will be shortened will stand 36 inches tall.
Discussions regarding the installation of bollards started after a driver plowed into pedestrians on the sidewalk in front of the Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood Resort in December 2015.
