SAN DIEGO (AP) - A man who deliberately rammed a car into the side of a defense contractor’s building in San Diego and then set the vehicle on fire has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison.
Authorities say Daniel Hector Mackinnon was politically motivated when he set the fire outside a Raytheon building in April and when he tried the same day to burn the La Jolla home of a prominent San Diego real estate developer.
Authorities say two adults and three children were asleep in the home but the blaze only damaged the front door.
Mackinnon was convicted of malicious damage to a building by means of fire. He was sentenced in San Diego by a judge who called his actions “cold-blooded and cowardly.”
