ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Washington Redskins announced before Sunday’s game that safety Deshazor Everett signed a three-year extension to remain with the team through 2022.

Everett has 11 career starts in five seasons and has served as special teams captain since 2018.

Originally an undrafted free agent signed by Tampa Bay in 2015, Everett joined the Redskins’ practice squad later that year and has made a home in Washington since then. He converted from cornerback to safety and has made two interceptions and forced one fumble since then, but he plays most of his snaps on special teams.

Everett has been sidelined since Week 5 with an ankle injury.

The Redskins did not disclose terms of the extension.
