COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - In a story Nov. 28 about an Ohio Supreme Court ruling on a murder case appeal, The Associated Press misspelled the convicted man’s name. It’s Nasser Hamad, not Nasser Hamed.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Ohio Supreme Court refuses to hear appeal in murder case
The Ohio Supreme court has denied an appeal filed by the family a man who died in prison after he was convicted in a fatal shooting spree
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Supreme court has denied an appeal filed by the family a man who died in prison after he was convicted in a fatal shooting spree.
Nasser Hamad was convicted of aggravated murder and other offenses for fatally shooting two people and wounding three at his Howland Township home in February 2017.
The Warren Tribune Chronicle reports part of the family’s grounds for appeal was that the jury in the trial was not allowed to consider the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.
Hamad died in prison of natural causes in September 2018 less than a year after being sentenced to at least 36 years in prison.
Officials say the shooting was a culmination of a months-long feud between the 49-year-old and several members of his girlfriend’s family.
