CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming tribal leaders have announced plans to dedicate a new $4.5 million child care center to help address a shortage of affordable care options for tribal members.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the Northern Arapaho Tribe has plans to open the 24-hour center by its Wind River Hotel and Casino in Riverton.

Tribal leaders say a dedication for the 13,000 square-foot (1,208 square-meter) is scheduled for next week.

An opening date has not yet been determined.

Officials say Red Wolf Child Care has room for 250 children from newborns to 10-year-old kids and would provide quality care, age-specific education and recreation and a playground.

Officials say child care is a barrier to employment for tribal citizens and a care center allows members to seek more jobs and educational opportunities.
