LANDOVER — The Washington Redskins entered the locker room at halftime Sunday against the Detroit Lions with something they haven’t had much of this season — a lead.
The Redskins have a 13-6 lead over the Lions after two quarters, thanks to a 91-yard touchdown return from Steven Sims and a pair of field goals from Dustin Hopkins.
This is the first time Washington has led since Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, a game it ended up winning.

Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins has struggled with his accuracy, but he’s made enough plays to get the Redskins into scoring range.
The 22-year-old went 6 of 13 for 62 yards.
Washington’s defense has also stepped up, forcing turnovers on consecutive possessions. Fabian Moreau picked off Lions quarterback Jeff Driskel and then linebacker Cole Holcomb forced a fumble on the next Detroit drive.
Detroit’s Matt Prater nailed a 49-yarder to cut into Washington’s lead 14 seconds before halftime.
