LANDOVER — Dwayne Haskins was elated to capture the first win of his NFL career, but the celebration came a bit prematurely.

When Fabian Moreau sealed the Washington Redskins’ 19-16 win with an interception in the final moments of Sunday’s game, he was tackled with two seconds to go. The game was all but over, but the Redskins needed to run one more play, a kneel-down, to make it official.

Haskins was so busy celebrating with fans that backup Case Keenum had to take the final snap.

The Fox broadcast showed Haskins taking selfies with fans near one end zone of FedEx Field around the same time that Keenum took a knee.

“I was so hyped,” Haskins said. “I think I broke a water bottle. I look up and (the video board) read ’Victory,’ and I said ’Oh, I thought the game was over with already. But I’ll get it next time.”

Asked later if the selfies were taken during the game or when it was over, he said, “Over.”

Amid the chaos and deserved excitement of Washington’s first home win in 13 months, not even the Redskins’ coaching staff knew what happened to Haskins.

“We were looking for him too,” interim coach Bill Callahan said with a laugh. “I think he thought the game was over. I think he thought it was over. Yeah, we’ll have to find out, I’ll have to find out a little bit more. I know we called for the ’U’ victory formation and Case came out on the field.”

Callahan later clarified that he didn’t think the scene was worth laughing about and “we’ll address that” with Haskins.

Asked a question about missing receivers throughout the day, the rookie revealed that he played with a “banged-up” wrist on his throwing arm. When asked to elaborate when and how he hurt his wrist and how bad it was, Haskins simply said, “I’m good.”

Haskins finished the game 13-for-29 passing for 156 yards, an interception and a lost fumble.
