The New England Patriots have discussed potentially bringing back wide receiver Antonio Brown after the team released him months earlier, according to a new report from Boston radio station WEEI.

WEEI’s Christian Fauria, a former Patriots tight end, said the team has “kicked the tires” about re-signing Brown. In September, New England cut Brown just 11 days into his tenure amid sexual conduct allegations.

Sports Illustrated had reported Brown sent text messages to his accuser, which she says were threatening. Brown reportedly sent pictures of the woman’s kids to the woman and his associates, telling one associate to “look up her background history (and) see how broke this girl is.”

But could the Patriots seriously bring him back? New England’s offense has struggled in recent weeks and Brown recently apologized on Twitter to Patriots owner Robert Kraft for the “bad media and drama.” Several Patriots players, including quarterback Tom Brady, liked the post.

Brown appeared in one game for the Patriots, catching four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. The NFL is still investigating the allegations against him and even if signed, there is no guarantee he would be able to play.
