EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Speechwriters for former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama plan to discuss Judaism and spirituality at Northwestern University.

Sarah Hurwitz and Cody Keenan will be featured at “Finding Meaning and Spirituality in Judaism.” It is sponsored by Northwestern Hillel and will start at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hillel Center on the Evanston campus.

Hurwitz worked at the White House from 2009 to 2017. She was head speechwriter for Michelle Obama and senior speechwriter for President Obama. She penned speeches for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and in the 2004 race for John Kerry and General Wesley Clark.

Keenan rose from Chicago intern for Obama to director of speechwriting at the White House. He has written with President Obama for more than a decade and remains his collaborator.
