CLYATTVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a worker at a south Georgia paper mill.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports Tyler Seacrist died Saturday at the Packaging Corp. of America mill just north of the Florida state line.

Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk says workers failed to shut off power to a jammed conveyor belt. When the belt restarted, Paulk says Seacrist was thrown into some industrial equipment and killed.

Lowndes County Coroner Austin Fiveash says he is investigating, and so is the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Packaging Corp. of America, based near Chicago, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Clyattville mill opened in 1952 and PCA bought it in 1991. It’s one of six mills the company owns.
