PALISADE, Colo. (AP) - A western Colorado high school is closed after 300 students and staff came down with an unknown illness.

Colorado Public Radio reports that Palisade High School closed early Thursday. Health officials are investigating and crews are cleaning the campus.

Officials hope to reopen the school on Monday.

About 130 students and staff at the 1,000-student school outside Grand Junction reported sick on Wednesday.

Jeff Kuhr of the Mesa County Health Department says parents should watch their kids for vomiting, fever or diarrhea.

Officials say that they will update parents once they learn what’s making people sick.
