CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is getting a new commander.

State Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti on Wednesday announced the promotion of Lt. Col. Daniel Solow to colonel, the top-ranking position in the Highway Patrol, effective next Monday.

The previous colonel, John O’Rourke, retired in August.
