COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina lawmakers will come back in special session to deal with the future of state-owned utility Santee Cooper and budget vetoes by the governor.
The House unanimously approved Thursday a resolution allowing lawmakers to return to Columbia for three days starting May 20.
The proposal narrows down what issues can be discussed when they return. Along with the budget and Santee Cooper, it includes any other vetoes by Gov. Henry McMaster and bills that have passed both the House and Senate in different versions and are in a conference committee.
The Senate also passed the proposal once it was assured Gov. Henry McMaster would not make appointments while they are out without their consent.
The Legislature adjourned its regular session at 5 p.m. Thursday.
