President Trump and Argentine President Mauricio Macri discussed economic reform and “regional challenges” by phone on Wednesday, the White House said.
“President Trump expressed strong support for President Macri’s pro-growth economic agenda and the strides he has made in modernizing the Argentine economy,” Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere.
Mr. Macri, who is running for another term, is trying to tamp down inflation and soothe erratic markets ahead of an October election.
The White House didn’t specific which regional issues the men discussed, though the U.S. is hoping Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro will cede way to Juan Guaido, the National Assembly leader who’s been recognized by 50 nations as interim president.
