House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said Wednesday he is “ready, willing and able” to negotiate with the Justice Department even after President Trump invoked executive privilege to block access to special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report and the underlying evidence.
“This information we are requesting is entirely in our legal right to receive,” Mr. Nadler said at a markup hearing to hold Attorney General William P. Barr in contempt for refusing to meet Democrats’ demands.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nadler said the contempt vote is “not a step we take lightly.”
“It is the culmination of nearly three months of requests, discussions and negotiations with the Justice Department for the complete unredacted report of the Mueller probe,” he said.
