DETROIT (AP) - Former Detroit mayoral spokesman and communications strategist Bob Berg has died following a battle with cancer. He was 76.
Van Dyke Horn public relations firm Chief Executive Peter Van Dyke says Berg died Wednesday at his Detroit home.
Berg served as press secretary from 1983-93 for Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young. He was executive assistant for public affairs from 1977-82 for Michigan Gov. William Milliken.
In 1998, Berg founded the Detroit-based Berg Muirhead and Associates public relations firm and served as counsel to the company after it was sold in 2016 to employees Van Dyke and Marilyn Horn.
Berg is survived by his partner, Wanda Brock; son, Erik; daughters, Melanie Berg and Lola Kristina Gibson-Berg; sister, Karen Dolan; brother, Glenn; and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete Wednesday.
