OPINION:
The Twitter spat of Sen. Rick Scott and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez escalated over the last 24 hours and honestly, if scorecards are being kept — the socialist from New York just needs to go home.
It’s not even Scott, 1, Ocasio-Cortez zero. It’s not even that close.
Here’s the backstory: Scott, responding to Sen. Cory Booker — wanna-be Democratic presidential pick Cory Booker — and his ridiculously anti-Second Amendment gun control and firearms’ registry proposal, called it out as a “terrible idea” on Twitter, called Booker out as a “scary” White House contender on Twitter, and then made a sarcastic comparison of the New Jersian to Ocasio-Cortez, also on Twitter.
“What’s next? Will we have to register sharp knives?” Scott tweeted. “Maybe @AOC will make us register every time we buy meat as part of her #GreenNewDeal. The Democrats are officially the @BernieSanders [Socialist] Party. They want America to be less prosperous and less free.”
That’s just fact. Not even opinion. The Democrats are simply socialists with “D” buttons, trying to masquerade their anti-American agendas as social justice and equality programs.
Ocasio-Cortez — AOC — couldn’t stand the tweet-heat, apparently.
She reached for her gender card and responded on Twitter: “That a sitting US Senator can say something lacking so much critical thinking + honesty is embarrassing to the institution. If you were a female candidate, maybe you’d be called ’unlikeable,’ ’crazy,’ or ’uninformed. But since you’re not, this inadequacy is accepted as normal.”
What does that even mean?
That women aren’t granted the same privilege of appearing dishonest as men?
Anyhow, Scott shot back, “That a sitting Congresswoman doesn’t understand sarcasm would be embarrassing to the institution if you hadn’t embarrassed yours to the point of irrelevance already,” he wrote.
Precisely.
Not only does the socialist Ocasio-Cortez not even belong in Congress — how do socialists seriously take the oath of office to protect the Constitution? But even if a socialist somehow, some way, in some Twilight Zone episode of American government, rightly belonged in U.S. government, Ocasio-Cortez isn’t exactly the best candidate for that role.
When it comes to Ocasio-Cortez and historical skewings and public gaffes, she’s rivaled only by Joe Biden.
With a bit more experience, maybe she’ll get to the point where her score in spats against conservatives even registers as a number.
