RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is recovering at home a day after back surgery.
Cooper spokesman Ford Porter confirmed the governor was released from UNC Rex Hospital on Tuesday and is on the mend at the Executive Mansion. On Monday, Cooper underwent the elective procedure to fix a herniated disc that his office says was causing him lower back pain.
In a tweet , Cooper wrote he was happy to be home and thanked well-wishers. He says he’s disappointed the surgery meant his 18-month stretch of recording at least 10,000 steps per day came to end and looked forward to begin a new streak.
