CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Former Notre Dame and Vanderbilt forward Matt Ryan will finish his career at Chattanooga as a graduate transfer.
Chattanooga announced Tuesday that Ryan had signed with the Mocs. As a graduate transfer, Ryan is eligible to play for Chattanooga in 2019-20 rather than sitting out a year.
Ryan started 25 games for Vanderbilt this past season and averaged 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds. The 6-foot-8 Ryan shot 32.8 percent (59 of 180) from 3-point range.
He played two seasons at Notre Dame before coming to Vanderbilt. Ryan averaged 5.6 points for Notre Dame in 2015-16 and 3.6 points in 2016-17.
Chattanooga coach Lamont Paris said in a statement that Ryan’s “ability to shoot the ball and stretch the floor is unique.” Paris added that “there’s more to his game, and we look forward to helping him add to it and affect the game in ways he maybe hasn’t been used before.”
