Have you ever wondered where this “healthy whole grain” stuff comes from (“With Trump rollback, school lunch could get more white bread,” Web, May 2)? Just Google “healthy whole grains masturbation” and up comes Sylvester Graham (as in graham crackers) and on down the page the Kellogg family and John Harvey Kellogg (of the Kellogg Co.) come up. Nevermind the nutrition implications here because they are nearly all bad. The school lunch program is based on the anti-masturbation diet that goes all the way back to the early 19th century. This is your government and this is what passes for evidence-based nutrition. There is none, and it basically follows from a cult turned into a very profitable corporate enterprise.

Arguing over the difference between whole grains and plain white bread is about the same as arguing over the difference between a Baby Ruth and Snickers bar. The American Diabetes Association recently admitted that the best way to control blood glucose is by reducing carbohydrate consumption. This was well-known in the 19th century, but the money was just too good to pass up, so bring on the corn flakes and the pharmaceutical industry for 50 to 75 years, and you obtain wall-to-wall chronic disease with type II diabetes being in the lead.

In the future they will be dispensing continuous blood glucose monitors along with the school lunches. Hopefully, at least a few kids will realize what their government is doing to them.
