Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto has been placed on the 10-day injured list with back spasms, the team announced Saturday.
The 20-year-old phenom has missed the Nationals’ last three games with the injury, usually as a late scratch. His IL stint is retroactive to May 1.
Soto is the latest of a growing list of injured Washington position players, including Trea Turner (finger), Ryan Zimmerman (foot) and Anthony Rendon (elbow), all of whom are inactive at the moment.
Soto was batting .248 with six home runs, five doubles and 22 RBI in 2019.
The Nationals called up outfielder Andrew Stevenson from Triple-A Fresno to replace Soto.
