LORMAN, Miss. (AP) - Alcorn State University is awarding more than 400 diplomas to graduates as they hear from the head of Mississippi’s largest electrical utility.

The university held its commencement ceremony Saturday morning in Lorman.

Entergy Corp. Chief Executive Officer Leo Denault spoke to graduates, saying he hoped to motivate them to even greater success.

New Orleans-based Entergy is the largest private electrical utility in Mississippi, with 447,000 customers in the western half of the state.

Interim Provost John Igwebuike says Denault was a good choice of speaker because of its longtime partnership with Entergy, which operates the nearby Grand Gulf nuclear power plant.
