TOPSHAM, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont State Police say they are investigating allegations of maltreatment of horses in the town of Topsham.

Police said Thursday two horses were surrendered to them for care.

Mynbc.com reports that two horse owners are trying to figure out how their animals died in another woman’s care at a farm.

State Police said they continue to be in contact with the parties involved, including a veterinarian, as the investigation continues.

A woman reached by telephone at the farm refused to comment on the allegations.
