President Donald Trump, just a day after the National Day of Prayer, took to Twitter to call for a new spirit of nonpartisanship to take over Washington, D.C.

He’s right. It’s time.

It’s time for Democrats to drop their silly impeachment calls, move past their resistance mindsets, lay aside the whole special counsel report from Robert Mueller — and for Republicans to embrace their ideological counterparts and come together for the good of the country.

“OK,” Trump wrote, “so after two years of hard work and each party trying their best to make the other party look as bad as possible, it’s time to get back to business. The Mueller Report strongly stated that there was No Collusion with Russia (of course) and, in fact, they were rebuffed. …”

And, he continued: “… at every turn in attempts to gain access. But now Republicans and Democrats must come together for the good of the American people. No more costly & time consuming investigations. Let’s do Immigration (Border), Infrastructure, much lower drug prices & much more — and do it now!”

The left likes to say Trump’s going a softer public messaging route because he’s sagging in polls — or at least in the fake match-up polls the Dems like to twist and turn to their political advantage. For instance: One recent CNN poll just found that Trump’s approval rating with voters has hiked, post-Mueller, and that Americans, by and large, are quite tired, thank you, of the whole impeach, impeach, impeach cry of the left.

But that poll wasn’t a front and center for mainstream media. What was?

This: Beto O’Rourke’s beating Trump by 10 points.

And this: Joe Biden’s coming on strong, setting Trump on panicked notice.

Thing is, with those polls — they’re figments of imaginary matches. Beto’s nowhere near winning the primary; Biden is a maybe-perhaps-potential, at best.

Trump, meanwhile, has a steaming economy, a chugging jobs’ stat, an improved border policy — and, apparently, a rising fan base with polled voters.

His call for unity?

It’s a true reach-out the left should grasp. After all, in the end, it is about the country, not the political party — right?
