CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Former Vice President Al Gore will address graduating seniors at Harvard University for the school’s annual pre-commencement Class Day event.
The Democrat will speak to the Class of 2019 on Wednesday. Gore, who graduated from Harvard in 1969, was picked by the Harvard College Senior Class Committee to deliver this year’s remarks.
Gore is now chairman of the nonprofit Climate Reality Project. He emerged as a leading climate activist after losing the 2000 presidential election.
The senior class committee has invited prominent figures to speak for Class Day every year since 1968. The festivities are held the day before seniors receive their diplomas.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will address the Harvard Business School for its Class Day on Wednesday. Bloomberg received his MBA from Harvard in 1966.
