SEATTLE (AP) - The presidential campaign of Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has collected donations from more than 65,000 donors.

Inslee tweeted Friday that he met the threshold, which likely guarantees him a spot in the first Democratic debate in late June.

He said: “I can’t thank you enough - you made this happen.”

Inslee is one of 23 Democrats seeking the party nomination.

The Democratic National Committee has set minimum donor and polling requirements for candidates to make the debate stage.

Inslee earlier had cleared the polling requirement and recorded 1% support in three qualifying polls.

Campaign spokesman Jared Leopold says Inslee reached the donor milestone on Friday.

Inslee has focused much of his campaign on climate change.

His platform includes a $9 trillion plan to transition the United States from fossil fuels to clean energy over a decade.
