LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - University of Wyoming trustees plan to ask the state for nearly $50 million to renovate the swimming pool and part of the football stadium.

The Laramie Boomerang reported Friday the university expects renovating War Memorial Stadium’s west side stands and rebuilding the Corbett Pool to cost a little over $74 million.

University Vice President for Finance Administration Neil Theobald says the university plans to raise the remaining cost.

University Athletic Director Tom Burman told trustees last week that rebuilding the pool is vital for maintaining the swimming and diving programs.

Trustees are hoping that pairing the projects together will guaranteed both are funded.

The state’s deadline for the university to submit construction project requests was May 1, but the university received 30-day extension.
