Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s medical school will announce the findings of their investigation into how a racist photo of two men — one dressed in blackface and the other a Ku Klux Klan robe — ended up on his yearbook page.
Eastern Virginia Medical School spokeswoman Jennifer McCarrel said the results of the inquiry will be announced Wednesday at 10:30 am, The Hill reported.
The investigation was conducted by the McGuireWoods law firm and probed the school’s culture at the time as well as the origins of the photo.
The Democratic governor initially apologized for appearing in the photograph, but later said he was not in the picture. He did admit appearing in blackface as part of a dance contest in the 1980s.
Shortly after Mr. Northam’s revelation, Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring admitted that he also had appeared in blackface in the 1980s to imitate a rap group at a college contest.
Both Mr. Northam and Mr. Herring resisted calls for their resignation.
